Welcome
to www.tropicscope.com the Mauritian
portal for leisure and tourism. Launched in February 2002,
Tropicscope is a private initiative from EXPORTAL LTD,
developers of specific web portals.
The
concept of Tropicscope is to offer
the possibility to service providers of the tourism
& leisure industry to acquire the web presence
they deserve. Tropicscope offers a standard format to
all, allowing the smaller service providers to share
a common platform with the leaders of the industry.
By doing so, we offer to our visitors a wide and comprehensive
database of services that are, of interest and of good
standards.
Although
those listed are of different standards, different price
and quality levels, they have common denominators: they
all have good track records in terms of service to the
industry, respect of human rights and environment; they
also all deserve to be listed as they deliver value for
money.
Tropicscope has three main characteristics:
1) Listings of hotels,
villas
& bungalows, B&B's,
and other accommodations, restaurants,
excursionists, places
of interest, shops
and car hires to
be used as a guide for organising one's trip to Mauritius.
Instead of offering just a list of addresses, which is
not always helpful, we have designed standard pages containing
particulars, pictures, and texts offering a detailed description
of the places and services. We emphasize on the fact that
the contents of these pages are supplied by the service
providers themselves. However, we do make sure that their
contents are true, valid, and up to date.
2) A page exclusively dedicated to the Mauritius events.
Although the frequency of events is not to be compared
with the one of a city, Mauritius is a living country
with regular cultural and entertaining events, which can
be of interest to visitors, especially those who wish
to discover the country in deep and meet Mauritian people.
3) Tropicscope would not have been complete without a
general information section, which can be of great help
to all for practical information and especially to those
preparing their next holiday trip.
In addition, each region of Mauritius is described specifically;
these pages contain our recommendations about places to
see and things to do. Contrarily to the service providers’
pages, the contents of our country descriptions reflect
our own views and opinions.
We have no financial interests in any of the parties listed
onto Tropicscope and unlike most other Internet and paper
guides on Mauritius,
we do not automatically recommend the places who paid
us for advertising. In
order to make Tropicscope more useful, we are now offering
the possibility to book accommodation, excursions and
other services using the online reservation system
of our partner website, www.bookmauritius.com.
We hope that Tropicscope and Bookmauritius will help you
in discovering the true Mauritius and in the organisation
of your trip. Its contents are getting more comprehensive
each month and we are endeavouring in improving our information
and service. In case you have any suggestions, appraisals
or complaints about anything related to your trip, the
country and this web portal, do not hesitate to write
to us at comments@tropicscope.com.
Yours Sincerely,
Bernard Cayeux
