Horse
Riding in Mauritius occurs mainly in clubs where previous
racing horses are sent to retire and get converted into jumping
and "Dressage" (training) horses. There are hardly any places
raising specially trained horses for horseback rides but exclusive
horseback excursions are possible at:
"
La
Vieille Cheminee" in Chamarel (South-West of
Mauritius,)
organises horseback excursions upon request in a magnificent domain.
"
La
Vieille Cheminee" runs a
guesthouse in semi-detached
lodges.
"
Domaine
de l'Etoile" : Proposed every day, either in the morning or
in the afternoon, horseback rides last approximately 2 hours and
occur in small groups of of 7 riders maximum. The morning rides
can include a lunch on the banks of the "Grand Riviere Sud-est."
